1.         SERMON RECAP

(Visit  pmc.org.sg  to listen to the sermon and download a copy of the Powerpoint slides)

a.       The love of God is our ¡°pearl of great price¡± (Mt 13:44)

b.      While God does not condemn us, He does correct us out of His love.

c.       Knowing God¡¯s love should lead us to a life of trust, obedience, and eternal perspective.

¡°He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.¡± Jim Elliot

2.         LIVE IT OUT

a.       We are more than conquerors through Him who loves us.  Yet so often, we feel more like helpless victims left to fend for ourselves.   For it is one thing to say that "God is for us", and a whole other thing to live like it.

> Does the word "conqueror" describe your current life situation?

> Share with your group.  Divide into 3-4 pax if it helps.

b.      Paul said that nothing can separate us from the love of God.  But what does ¡°separate us from the love of God¡± mean?

> Can my selfish free will and disobedience separate me from God's love?  Discuss.

c.       List things/activities that have taken significant time and focus in your life but which seems to have little eternal value.

> Do you need to make changes in your life to focus on things that truly matter?

> Share and pray with another person in your group.

3.         PRAY

Please refer to the PMC Mobile App, ¡°MyPMC¡±, for our weekly prayer guide.  [Click on ¡°PRAY¡±, then ¡°Let¡¯s Pray¡±]

a.       Read the following passage in silence to understand what it means.  Next, read the passage aloud as a group, replacing the words 'our', 'us', and 'we' with your own name.

"  The cross of Calvary is not the measure of our worth; it is the measure of God¡¯s love. That is what Paul wants us to see here. The cross imputes worth to sinners who receive the gift of salvation. The cross is not the evidence of our worth but the source of our worth. We are worthy because Christ died for us. Christ did not die for us because we were worthy."       ~ Bob Deffinbaugh

4.         GOING DEEPER

a.       Paul tells us in Rom 8.30 that,

"...And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified."

Note that "glorified" is in the past tense, which means that glorification, a future experience for believers, is a certainty!

> Do you trust that the sovereign God is at work in your life, despite the chaos, suffering and groaning you face right now?

> What can you do to turn your "downs" into "ups"?  Pray, and ask God to show you!
