1.     SERMON RECAP

(Visit  pmc.org.sg  to listen to the sermon and download a copy of the Powerpoint slides)

a.                        Suffering does not disprove our relationship with God ¨C our suffering and sharing in the glory of God is inseparable. (Rom 8:17; 2 Cor 4:17-18)

b.                      In the midst of suffering, we hope, knowing that ¡°suffering is not the end of the story for Christians. Glory is!¡± (Rom 8:18, 23)

-            Likewise, the world will one day be fully redeemed and transformed. (Rom 8:19, 21)

c.                     And we wait eagerly and patiently. (Rom 8: 23, 25)

2. LIVE IT OUT

a.                        Suffering has been part of humanity since Adam and Eve sinned.  How do we know that when we encounter suffering, we are suffering for His sake?  When we are disobedient or running away from His purpose, it seems that God sometimes let us suffer to wake us from our folly (think of Jonah being tossed into the sea!).

>> Reflect on a recent ¡®suffering¡¯ that you faced.  Would you consider the suffering as being for His sake, or because of your own folly/foolishness?

>> Share in groups of 2-3 your thoughts and experience

b.                      The preacher shared that when we are suffering, we should be neither too patient nor too eager (for deliverance).

>> Share with your group whether you have a tendency to be too patient, nor too eager.

>> Discuss the underlying reasons why one can be impatient, or resigned, in the midst of suffering.

3. PRAY

>> As a group, pray for people who are suffering in the world today.  Be specific in your prayers.
