[For Group Leaders:

everyone in the Word.
1. SERMON RECAP (Visit pmc.org.sg to listen to the sermon and download a copy of the Powerpoint slides) a. God¡¯s law was misused, misrepresented,
and perverted by sin. b. Sin tried to use the law to trap us,
but Christ came to free us from ¡°under law¡± and to render sin weaponless. c. The believer continues to struggle
with sin as a reality of the Christian life. We are saints who sin. d. Why? While we are a new creation in our
spirit (cf. ¡°inner man¡± ¨C v22), our
bodies continue to suffer the effects of sin until the day we die. e. Thanks be to God!! No matter how wretched we might think
we are, God can still use our ¡°mortal body¡± (6:12, 8:11) for His Kingdom and glory!! May we become masters over our bodies
¨C by the Spirit (Chapter 8). 2. LIVE IT OUT a. Share with your group your own
experience with the Romans 7:15-24 dilemma. If possible, be specific about your
struggle. [Divide into smaller
groups for sharing if it helps] b. According to the preacher, the law is
good but sin has caused it to be used for evil purposes. The nature of sin is to pervert
what is good. > List
3 things that God has blessed you with. > Are
these blessings in danger of producing harm rather than good? Reflect and discuss. > What
can be done to prevent this from happening? > Do
it! c. The preacher presented two diagrams on
the relationships between law, sin and man (see PPT slides from PMC
website). How do these pictures
help us better understand our struggle with sin? 3. PRAY Please refer to the
PMC Mobile App, ¡°MyPMC¡±, for our weekly prayer guide. [Click on ¡°PRAY¡±, then ¡°Let¡¯s Pray¡±] 4. GOING DEEPER a. What is your experience with God¡¯s
laws (e.g. Ten Commandments, Sermon on the Mount cf. Matthew 5-7)? Do you find them helpful or burdensome
in your spiritual walk? >
Consider if you have been living ¡°under law¡±, or ¡°under grace¡±. |
