[For Group Leaders:
- The following serves only as a guide. Please feel free to edit and adapt.
- You are strongly encouraged to allow members to share using the POP
Journal (4Rs) at the beginning of your group time. This would deepen your fellowship and enrich
everyone in the Word.
1. SERMON RECAP (Visit pmc.org.sg to listen to the sermon and download a copy of the Powerpoint slides) ¡°We died to sin¡± ¨C what does it
mean? (6:2) ¡¤ Paul
does not mean that Christians are no longer responsive to sin. ¡¤ There
is a change of position (identity). - No longer
¡°in Adam¡± but ¡°in Christ¡±. - No longer
sinners but saints. - No longer
under the power of sin. - The
change took place through our union with Christ (6:3-5). Being a saint does not mean
that we are sinless; rather it means that we can say no to sin because we are
joined to Christ and share in the power of His resurrection (6:6-10) The starting premise for
sanctification (6:11): ¡°We need to remember who we
really are, so that we can act accordingly.¡± (N. T. Wright) 2. LIVE IT OUT a. Share one sinful habit that you
have overcome completely or to a large extent, in the course of your
Christian life. How did you
manage to have victory over it? ¡¤
After sharing, take time as a group to praise God and give glory to
Him. b. Break into groups of the same
gender. Share a sinful habit that
continues to affect your life. ¡¤
Reflect: is your sinful habit related to what you feed on through your
eyes, what you do or didn't do with your hands and feet, or what comes out of
your mouth? ¡¤ Pray for each other, that God might empower us to do what is right. 3. PRAY Please refer to the
PMC Mobile App, ¡°MyPMC¡±, for our weekly prayer guide. [Click on ¡°PRAY¡±, then ¡°Let¡¯s Pray¡±] 4. GOING DEEPER a. Explore the meaning of this verse: Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have
dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. Hint: read Galatians 4 for an idea of what
"under law" might mean. |
