1.         SERMON RECAP

(Visit  pmc.org.sg  to listen to the sermon and download a copy of the Powerpoint slides)

a.       The gospel is THE Good News of Jesus, who is both Man and God.

b.      Why shouldn’t we be ashamed of the gospel?

• It is THE power of God to save everyone who believes

• It reveals THE righteousness FROM God

c.       When we think we can never bring anyone to Christ, we are rejecting God’s power that can melt even hardened hearts.

d.      When we think we are not worthy of sharing the gospel, we are trusting in our own righteousness rather than in God’s righteousness that is imputed unto us.

e.       John of Salisbury said, “We are like dwarfs sitting on the shoulders of giants. We see more because they raise us up and by their great stature add to ours.” Yes, believers are dwarfs sitting on God’s giant shoulders. We become powerful because the gospel truth raises us up.

2.         LIVE IT OUT

a.       It is so easy for us to say that we are not ashamed of the gospel, but our actions may show otherwise.

·         When was the last time you declared to an acquaintance or a stranger, that you are a Christian?

·         Do your colleagues know of your faith? If not, why?

·         Ask God to help you this week to gently and wisely make known to somebody about your faith.

b.      Share with the group an occasion when you felt you could have offended the person you tried to share the gospel with.

·         What could have been the reason/s for their rejection or hostility? (e.g. your tone/manner, words used …)

·         How would you do it differently when an opportunity arises again, perhaps this coming week?

3.         PRAY

Please refer to the PMC Mobile App, “MyPMC”, for our weekly prayer guide.  [Click on “PRAY”, then “Let’s Pray”]

4.         GOING DEEPER

a.       Pastor John Piper considers Romans 1:16-17 the “manifesto” or the summary statement of the whole book of Romans.

Identify key words in these two verses that would be repeated often in the rest of Romans.

Tip: Doing a word search with a bible software would help!  (downloade.g. “Olivetree” free bible app from Apple or Google)
